The Photo at the Top of the Page
Marvin Stewart, the step-grandson of Mollie England, identifies this photo as the England family. This type of cabin is known as a dog trot cabin.

A History of the Dog Trot Cabin
The corral around the house was to keep the animals away from the house, and not as I originally thought, to keep them in. The animals usually roamed the nearby woods, until neighbors got too close and your animals needed to be separated from theirs.
