Family Notes from Richard Simms
James Martin was a "soldier in [the]Revolutionary War, per 'Memorial Record of Alabama' as told by grandson, Thomas J. Martin.

"James Martin of St. Clair Co purchased 80.15 acres of land from Edward Sims of Jefferson Co on 5-1-1823. He died before 11-24-1840, the date his heirs sold a portion of that land. Names of his children come from the deed of that sale, with the exception of Ned, whose name comes from other family information. The land sold in 1840 was sold to Thompson Martin."
