Orion Morgan McLain, Jr. described his mother Edith as a very strong woman, high tempered, loving, a good mother. She owned two or three restaurants in Haskell including a small drive in and a cafe on the town square. She suffered from diabetes and was nearly blind when she died. Orion Morgan McLain, Sr. died in an automobile accident. Cleatus was named for someone that Orion Morngan McLain served with in WWI.

Mrs. Hudspeth
Funeral services for Mrs. Edith Hudspeth, 77, of Haskell were held October 30 at 10:30 a.m. in First United Methodist Church in Haskell with Rev. James Putnam, pastor and Rev. Kenneth Blair, officiating. Burial was in Willow Cemetery under the direction of Holden-McCauley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hudspeth died October 28 at 3:30 p.m. at her home.
Born July 23, 1902 in Easland County, she had been a resident of Haskell since early childhood. She operated a Drive-In Restaurant for several years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Haskell.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Cleatus Highnote Hunt of Haskell; two sons, Orion McLain of Dallas and Bobby Joe McLain of Irving; one step-son, Tommy Frierson of Elgin; three step-daughters, Mrs. Mary Bassing of Haskell, Mrs. Freddie Collins of Frederick, Okla., and Mrs. Maggie Ford of Abilene; 5 granchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Billy Mac Carrigan, David D. Highnote, Bobby J. McLain Jr., Tony Pat McLain, Richard E. Spann and Tommy D. Patterson.
