Carlton, Ethel, Edna Lee, Era, Bob, Ira
1900 Erath County Texas Census 6 JUN 1900
1910 Eastland County Texas Census 25 JAN 1910 Doma Rabe Williams and Newton C. Williams died in 1911 and 1912 respectively. Doma died giving birth to Ira. Newt died of cancer. Doma's mother Lucy took the baby Ira to live with her brother Alex in Dallas. The other children were split up, put on trains and sent to live with other families. The 1920 Dallas County Census lists Ira Williams as the "grandson" of Alec Stewart. Ira is the Williams's last son. Alexander is 71. Annie Stewart, his sister, is living with him, she's 73. Maud Breckenridge, Daniel's daughter lives next door one way, and Lee Stewart, Daniel's grandson lives next door the other way.
Loquacious Ethel
Era Marie WILLIAMS, Newton and Doma Williams' daughter, lived with Newt's sister, Ethel Lutisha WILLIAMS and her husband John Organ THOMPSON. John's elder sister, Flora Margaret THOMPSON, married William H. FITZGERALD, and their son, Joseph Harvey FITZGERALD, SR., was Era's husband. Ethel J. WILLIAMS, Newton and Doma WILLIAMS' daughter, lived with the LOONEYS and is listed as a cousin on the 1920 census. She was 17, and a second cousin to Hannah LOONEY. A male, Ira WILLIAMS, Ethel's brother, is listed as living with Alex Newton STEWART on the 1920 Dallas census. He's listed as a grandson and is eight years old. Garth LOONEY tells me that he remembers Ethel living with his parents, that her parents had died. He told me she was bent over from a spinal disease, and lived in Overton, Texas, where they used to visit her. Actually, Edith's married name was OVERTON and they lived in Lamar County. According to a package of family papers from the POSEY family, Newt's name was "Henry" Newton WILLIAMS and Doma's name was Doma "Ira" RABY. Ira WILLIAMS signed his name Arie on Alex's death certificate so the "A." in Doma's name may stand for Arie. Doma Arie may have been named for her grandmother, Araminta Domer COLEMAN STEWART (1918, GA). Newton Commodore WILLIAMS was probably named for his uncle Commodore Decatur WILLIAMS (1927, TN). His grandfather was Thomas N. WILLIAMS (1790, TN), the "N." most likely standing for Newton. In 1920 Robert WILLIAMS is listed living with Clyde and Susan M. FITZGERALD in Hopkins County. Clyde and Susan FITZGERALD are very young, 21 and 18 respectively. A descendant reports that the FITZGERALDS were related to Robert WILLIAMS. In 1930 there's a Robert H. WILLIAMS listed as son-in-law living with John W. and Ella M. OSBURN in Fort Worth, Tarrant County. His names is crossed off and the name of Mary A. replaces his. Mary A. is 14. No Eula is listed. In the 1920 Dallas (Grand Prairie) Census a 21-year-old Edna L. is listed as married to Everett N. POOL, who is working with the American Body Company. The census lists Edna and her parents as born in Mississippi. This is not correct. Edna and her parents were born in Texas. The 1920 Baylor County Census lists an 11-year-old Carlton M., the nephew of Mack S. WILLIAMS [Maxwell Scott WILLIAMS], 48. They live next door to a Max's son John B. WILLIAMS. Maxwell Scott is Newt's brother. Texas Death Certificates were issued for Mrs. Dornar WILLIAMS, d. 13 SEP 1911, Johnson County TX, #20265, and for N.C. WILLIAMS, d. 1 SEP 1912, Johnson County TX, #21965. Newton's death certificate states that he died of cancer.
