Araminta Emma Stockton
Toward the end of her life Emma began to lose her sight. When her granddaughter Dorris Mae Stockton was born in 1920 Emma asked to see her. Dorris was one of the last sights that Emma saw. Azalea Henry, another granddaughter born in 1918, remembered that as a young child she led her blind grandmother around. Azalea later developed diabetes, so it is thought that Emma may have suffered from the same disease.
Wilce Stockton
Wilce was never very strong. He was of small build but had a very strong will. He liked to go on cattle drives and was caught in a cattle stampede once on the Old Chisom Trail. He received many injuries that caused him to suffer a great deal later on in life. [His legs were almost cut off when he was run into a fence.]
Wilce (due to his injuries) stayed around home a lot. He read a lot, studied the Bible and read newspapers.
He was also a great story teller and enjoyed telling ghost stories, which it is thought were told to him by his father William (Bill) Stockton.
Wilce never smoked or drank.
It is thought that he got the name "Wilce" as a nick-name, as the records show his true name as Wilson.
-Received from his grandson Warren Stockton, 31 DEC 2005

Various Men
According to a copy of this photo owned by Warren Stockton, the men [top left to right] are Francis Daniel Stewart, Wilse Stockton, Johnny Stockton, Jr. [bottom left to right] Jim Ellison and Cal Stockton.
Calvin Clayton Stockton, born 22 MAY 1848, was Wilse's older brother. He lived with Wilse and Emma. Johnny Jr. may be John Luther Stockton, the son of John Hosea Stockton. Frances Daniel Stewart may be Daniel Stewart. There's a Jas. Ellison in the 1880 Eastland County TX Census, b. around 1840 in Alabama. There's also a James Ellison b. 1814 in Whitley KY, who died in 1876 in Eastland County TX, possibly the father of Jas. Ellison.
