Desdemona, Eastland County TX

The town of Desdemona, in Eastland County, Texas is named for Desdemona Wynn. Family history suggests that it is because she was the town's first school teacher. Many members of the Stockton, Wynn, and Stewart families were born in Desdemona, formerly known as Hogtown, as the town is situated near Hog Creek. John Jay Wynn served both as a postmaster and a Justice of the Peace in Desdemona. The photo above is of Desdemona during the oil boom.
